How effective is walking for weight loss?

Question by Freedom Junky: How effective is walking for weight loss? I had a baby 10 months ago and have been working very hard to get back into shape, Im just about back to the pre-baby weight but exerising is getting harder as she gets older. Im able to do two really good intense workouts everyweek, but other then that all i can do is walk, I Usually go for about a 2 hour ( 8 km) walk everyday and I strap 10 pound weights to each leg for the walk. Is it possible to tone your body at all
